Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is SMP the same as a regular tattoo? Does the ink fade over time?
No. In contrast to other tattoos, the procedure does not penetrate through the epidermis (top level of the skin) as deeply, and the inks (or pigments) used are less prone to fade or change color over time, which could happen with traditional tattoos.
Q: I have dark brown skin. Is SMP for me?
Yes! SMP can be performed on all skin types and colors. You can choose from hundreds of shades of ink to match your original hair color and your skin tone.
Q: I’ve heard such horror story about hair loss concealers, rugs and plugs… is SMP just another fad?
Scalp micropigmentation has become increasingly popular over the past several years thanks to the great successes of the procedure and the almost undetectable results! The market is expanding rapidly, and huge growth is expected in the coming years.
Q: What are the advantages of SMP over other hair loss solutions?
Instead of using medication, hair systems, temporary concealers or having a hair transplant performed, many people opt for SMP as a quick, painless and hassle-free alternative. One of the many advantages of SMP is that the hairline can be adjusted and freshened up with relative ease.
Q: How expensive is SMP? Can I afford it?
The cost of SMP depends on a variety of factors, such as where you live, the type of clinic you choose, the treatment area required and how many treatments you need. Contact us by email or phone at 305-989-5902 to set-up a free consultation!
Q: How long does it take to look great again?
Generally, the procedure takes about two or three sessions, which usually last about three hours each, depending on the treatment area and amount of hair loss. Contact us by email or phone at 305-989-5902 to set-up a free consultation!
Q: Does the procedure hurt? Is there a recovery time?
No. SMP is painless, although you might feel a little tickle as we apply the ink to your scalp. There is no recovery time - you will leave the clinic looking and feeling great!
Q: What if I want to reverse the SMP procedure? Is that even possible?
Even though scalp micropigmentation is a permanent treatment, it can be removed with a correctional procedure or laser treatment. The professionals at SOBE SMP can remove, or bleach, the ink from your skin.
Q: Is SMP safe? Are there any known side effects?
Since the SMP procedure is relatively new, there is not much scientific data on side effects related to the procedure, but, generally, the side effects are similar to those of traditional tattoos – namely, the concerns with the cleanliness of the needles and the possibility that you could have an allergic reaction to the ink used. At SOBE SMP, we only use sterile, one-time use needles. Always… Guaranteed… and we perform a small patch test on an inconspicuous part of your scalp before performing the full treatment, to rule out allergies.
